IF I Print this hinge fix replacement with ABS and bond it to the power book cover with acetone, then do you think I could reduce the size of the “hinge fix”part? I am wondering if it will require a lot less surface area to securely meld ABS to ABS????

Earlier in the year I attempted to recreate the clutch cover but I wasn't completely satisfied because the shape was off and didn't publish it on thingiverse. Since it could be of some use to @AEChadwick while someone else makes a better recreation, I just published it at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5904271

If it helps anyone else I also tried to recreate:

because the shape was off
i feel this. I have tried to model it and given up, several times. your version looks good, the basic structure is excellent; the creepy double-parabola-thing is a little off, but sometimes in television we say, “Done Is Art.” I’m printing four of these right now tonight.

These are great! I could have saved myself some time and just used your display access cover! :)

Thanks. @jmacz your version of the display access cover looks really good. I had a ton of trouble trying to replicate the three dimensional dimple shape depression in front of the microphone. I couldn't get the bell curve shape right. Maybe someone can remix it and fix the shape.

Hopefully the clutch covers work for you. Yeah that parabola dome thing I couldn't get quite round enough and couldn't spend more time tinkering with it.

My friend 3d printed some clutch covers, I haven’t test fitted them yet, but they look identical. I’ll ask him about his designs again, apologies for not following up on this.

I was browsing Thingiverse (having looked a month or so ago) and was stunned when all your items popped up the other day. I just want to say a big heartfelt thanks for sharing these, and congratulations on your work. I really like what you’ve done with the display access cover wedge-shaped clips (integrated from another design); they look like they will work better than the fragile fingers.

I intend to have a try at the clutch covers but can’t say for certain that I’ll be able to improve on your design. I use DesignSpark Mechanical which is good at this sort of thing (overlapping extruded shapes) and should be able to revolve a parabolic curve, intersecting it with the base, but it is much easier said than done to measure those parts accurately enough! And then, it’s difficult finding the correct filament colour to print them… I have a light and a dark grey, the light grey is about the right hue but too light, and the dark grey is too blue-ish.

I have two ‘tidy’ machines plus one with shattered/missing parts that will certainly benefit from your work on those covers. Thank you again :)

Cheers, fuzzylogic, for the inspiration.
I’ve uploaded mine to https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6280031
I’m quite happy with the result, though it may not be perfect :)
Now I just wish I had some darker-grey. I’ll try black, might look better.
