Leaking prototypes :ninja:

I migrated my recapped SE/30 over to my Red @maceffects case. Also, added an internal blueSCSI and Beelzabulb (thanks @Kay Koba) with a nice card access thanks to SmilingSavage ’s beautiful expansion bracket. This things a ruby of a gem!

The SymbFile still works! Hooray for spinning discs that haven't broken yet.

Ugh, of course! I should have noticed the menubar clock and the big giveaway that it wasn't a Mac 128K, the Multifinder System Folder icon! Does it have an original Mac 128K keyboard, i.e. without the numeric keypad (nor cursor keys!!!) though?

What on earth could you possibly need 20MB of disk space for?

Obviously, 30 minutes of 11kHz, 8-bit PCM audio of course :-D ! That's nearly a whole album!
CPU photos, eh?

Used M-series Macs to me just seem to have a lot less value than used older gen Macs of yesteryear.

I used to look forward to getter the cheaper and more available Powermacs when they were several years old. Older but serviceable.

(the dynamic on the windows side of things is weird for sure because buying a used 8th gen i5 OEM system and upgrading it, even "modestly" like to 16/512, is likely to cost more than a brand new N100/16/512 micro PC from amazon, so the only "value" is if you know up front you need even more than that in some way.)

I like them and I plan on getting one soon but I don't personally see value in getting a used one. I upgraded to SSDs when they first started coming out and I still DONT like the idea of a used and worn out SSD, thats non replaceable. Non-upgradeable ram, while not necessarily a deal breaker still sits badly with me.

Ah totally fair - are there even a bunch yet? I imagine if so a lot of 'em are power users or developers who should never have bought an 8/16g config to begin with and those'll have been "ridden hard".
After a house move, now finally getting setup for more restoration. Currently working on getting an eMac up and running dual-boot. I was hoping setup a Graphite iMac AND a G4 iMac someday. That's not going to happen after learning my dad sent both systems to e-waste recycling during the pandemic. SO. . . the eMac is my "hybrid" compromise--but I need a new bezel (1GHz model)
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a direct Raspberry Pi Zero GPIO -> Classic Mac serial connection? (UARTs differ between multiple Pi models)

That isn't a thing, one is UART and the other is RS422. One is TTL, the other is differential pairs.

At the very least you'd need to make some kind of adapter circuit.

You don't need to speak differential signalling into the Mac's serial ports. I think you ground RXD+ and the port goes into RS232 mode. So all you need is an RS232 driver and the right wiring. You still need some hardware, but nothing as scary as differential signalling.

What's a cheap, easy, and super compact way to step down a 5v signal to 3.3v without a logic level converter? I'm not doing serial or any complicated communication protocol, it's just an on/off switch basically. and I only need one-way functionality
