If these are generic and widely available, post a picture. I seem to have little luck with the adapters i got so far.

Bought a stack of 32GB Sandisk SATA SSDs a few years back and i would love to see them used in some IDE machines.

So far the StarTech.com adapter works well. However, they are close to $20 on Amazon.

I've used a no-name clone, worked fine for me, never had any issues with it.

The SFX power supply arrived today. Compared to the ATX power supply that was connected to it, it's really small. Unfortunately, the SFX power supply has no Molex power connectors.

Despite the vast amount of cables I have lying around, I don't have any SATA to Molex power adapters. I have ordered a few and they will arrive over the weekend.

During the search for a SATA to Molex power adapter, I found the USB2 PCI card with a NEC chipset. Woohoo!

Removed all of the ATX extension cables routed to one of the back slots on the G4.

The SFX power supply is now sitting on top of the optical drive bays and the case closes! The ATX and P4 power connectors are attached to the MDD-ATX adapter cable.

I need to get some Velcro or 3M command strips to secure the power supply, and I have to wait until the weekend to be able to connect the SSD or optical drive to it.

It looks so much better without the ATX power supply sitting on top of the case.

Now that the SATA -> Molex adapters have arrived, the power supply can now be secured in the case.



It doesn’t look pretty, but it’s not going to move either. I closed the side door, connected it to video and power and it works!



Now all that remains is to replace the internal speaker. I have a few of these lying around, which are loud enough in other devices. It’s not original, but neither is the power supply.

Do those IDE to SATA adapters work ok for booting into and running OS 9? There's a cheap G4 Quicksilver locally that I'm considering as an OS 9 machine...

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that yet. Mac OS 9 hasn't been installed, and I assume when I partitioned the SSD that I didn't tell it to install drivers for Mac OS 9. I do plan to wipe the drive and set it up properly to allow OS 9 and OS X to boot from it. Images for both have been downloaded and will be burned to DVD to hopefully boot on the MDD.

I also want to try the cheap IDE-SSD adapters I bought from AliExpress. They don't have a drive select jumper, so my expectations as to it working correctly are low.
