I totally understand. I got sick of it myself.
Another machine i got pretty tired of was the 867 MHz 12" Al PowerBook. In stock form, it was an excellent machine once I replaced the display, but the 40 GB 4200 RPM hard drive was kind of slow. So, I decided to upgrade it, and inexplicably, once I installed the new drive, the machine stopped recognizing both it and the internal optical drive, so it sat uselessly for quite awhile. I eventually came across a big lot of parts machines, so I attempted to fix it, but *nothing* worked!
I finally gave up on it and put together a nice 1.33 GHz one instead. Last I knew, that one still worked!
I think I eventually discovered that the cable for the optical drive somehow went bad (despite the fact that I never touched it when I upgraded the hard drive, which is on the opposite side of the machine!), as after I disconnected it on a whim, it suddenly started to boot again (from Firewire, because I didn't have any other drives to put in it), but by then I was so burned out I didn't care.
