About five years ago, I purchased an allegedly working Apple DuoDock from eBay in excellent condition. When it arrived, the top housing was cracked (seller later compensated for the damage), and it refused to power up even with a known working PowerBook Duo 230 I borrowed from my old high school. I would later sell the DuoDock as parts to JT on the Trading Post.
Last week, I discovered that someone nearby my university campus was selling some vintage Apple stuff, and part of that set included a working DuoDock (with a Duo 230), an Apple Color OneScanner, and some Apple service manuals. So for $80, here's what I got:
Everything works at the moment, including the scanner. The only noticeable defects are the screen hinge on the 230 does not click shut, and the screen itself suffers from the typical ghosting problem. Sound is also a tad faint even at maximum volume, so a capacitor overhaul will be required in the near future. Here's a shot of the hinge:
I also obtained a mint condition VHS copy of "The Shocking Truth" (not pictured).
