I've taken mine apart...
Hoping to scavenge for bits [:O] ]'>
The most.... It was a journey, an adventure, taking this machine apart.
You have to move this bit to get at that bit.
The funniest thing....
Well when the 6500 starts up, it makes quite a deep chime, as compared with quadra's I've had.
But why does it make a deep boing?
When taking the 6500 apart, there's a big black bit at the bottom of the case... what is this bit for? what use does it serve?
well it was attatched to the bottom of the case... not by screws, no that would've been too easy, but by, a philips screws thing, not a posi drive, now a hex key no this is different, luckily I had the tools that I needed.
So I get it unscrewed, & then it is only attached by a length of wiring.
It is creepy, what is this thing, is it a black box recorder? will this last severe death thing be recorded? will the apple mac police come round and arrest me?
Well, turns out, it is a hollow plastic box (Not box in the traditional sense but what else to call it?), It's hollow save a screw that holds it together and a speaker at one end!
Is it just an echo box? is this why the 6500 starts up with such a deep chime?
or is this black box a floatation device in case the 6500 is flying through the air and lands in a large body of water perhaps?
It was good fun taking it apart, but it is quite, quite a bizzare casing.
