Pictures as Backgrounds

I have recently gotten a PowerBook 180c and want to change the desktop pattern to a 640x480 PICT image. I open it in simpletext and copy the whole thing, though when I paste it into the desktop pattern control panel, It says that the picture is too big. Is there any software that can help me out here?

Not sure if it works on System 7 or resolution bigger than a regular compact Mac, but I've had good luck with Tim Maroney's public domain utility Backdrop.

Heh, The original programs lost their icons when I moved them from my Powerbook 150 via floppy. I don't mind, though it is annoying.
Highlight icon

Get info

Select icon with mouse in get info window

Cut

That should restore the original icon

Else, a desktop rebuild.

Or open resedit and cut out the icon from inside the program (cant remember the exact name of the full sized colour icons) and paste it into the alias's get info window. This is how i do it anyway ::)

How can I rebuild my desktop?
Are you serious?

Reboot your machine and hold down the option and command keys as the Finder starts (technically as it mounts the volume).

Ah, where to find Backdrop...I think it may be in one of those big public domain collections online but it's been a while since I got it and I don't remember what archive it's from!
