Loaded up my panelvan with a whole stash of Apple gear Saturday, only just finished sorting through it and packing it into shelves in my shed before it got dark.

As these larger conquests tend to be, it was all free. The guy used to own an Apple repair centre locally.

Parts:

stack of logic boards in Apple Service boxes for LCIII's, LC475, PowerMac 6x00, 7x00, 8x00 and 9x00

more LC630 logic boards than any one sane person can handle, also what looks like 8500 logic boards?? (three or four)

all sorts of Apple rubber feet, CD/floppy/blank bezels for 6100's, 7100's and 8600/9600 style cases (some in Apple Service packaging which I think is cool)

loads of LC pizza box power supplies, possibly 7300 style PSU's and an 8500 PSU

box of internal cables, SCSI, floppy, power

box of MISC video cards (look like stock ones)?

Apple Airports x3

some iMac Airport adapters

CD-ROM sleds

box of CPU daughter cards

box of MISC cables - mainly Apple Video cables and power cords...

three Iomega zip drives (no power supplies)...

Apple TV tuners and AV cards

box of Apple CD/DVD drives (all IDE)

Software/books:

stack of System 7 discs for IIvx, Quadra 605, LC475, LCIII

loads of Apple manuals for various Macs (mainly Performa and LC), some PowerMac

pile of books (Macs for dummies, OSX handbook, MS manuals, Internet books)

huge box of floppy discs (some Apple, some originals, mainly other software)

four boxed copies of Final Cut 2 (one still sealed)

Macs:

PowerMac 5500/225

Mac IIvx

Mac IIvi

Quadra 650

Performa 6200

WorkGroup Server 9150/120

Performa 5300 Directors Edition "limited release" - weird

Apple 17" ColorSync display

G3 233MHz desktop

7500/100

6400/180

6500/300

6100/66 Dos Compatible

Centris 660AV

MISC:

OptiStor 7 bay CD storage unit (Axis StorPoint)? I'm not really sure what this is...

He still had a whole heap of stuff he wasn't ready to get rid of, loads of compacts, PowerBooks, iMac G3's and I spotted TWO Lisa's.

Very cool! Some great stuff there. 5300 Directors Edition? Interesting - I thought they only did a 5400 and 5500 DE...i had no idea there was a 5300 as well. Is it black?

Axis StorPoint...just out of curiousity, does it have SCSI or ethernet ports? I'm guessing its some sort of CD "jukebox" type thing that most likely would have been used to make CDs available over a network back in the day. When I was in high school I remember they had a CD server that had something like 12 CD-ROM drives that was loaded with various educational CDs which were available over the school network.

one of our members (and a close personal friend) might be interested in that 8500 PSU. I went with him to pickup an 8600 and I think the 8500 PSU might work in it if I am thinking right. either that, if you have an 8600 PSU that you could size/find he would probably be interested in that.

Exactly what I was thinking. If it's SCSI, it most likely would've come with an Ultra SCSI PCI card with possibly 4-bit SCSI Addressing (16 SCSI devices including the card) to handle the 7 CD drives plus may another set (would have to be 5 or 6 max I think).

So that's interesting. I thought it might be a CD duplicator, but the Network thing probably sounds a bit more likely.

Yeah I know, weird hey. I was surprised to see the front say 5300 not 5400... It's beige, with the directors chair image in the top left corner. I wonder if it's genuine or if it's just had a logic board and front bezel swap. It needs some work (broken plastic vent on top) and I'm yet to even test it. Was just keen to get it all home and out of the weather. I've got a pair of beige 5400's in the shed which are missing logic boards so they'll be perfect for parts when I get around to it.

It has SCSI on the back, a whole heap of ID switches and a couple of fans. The front is lockable (and came with the key). I reckon you're spot-on with it being a "CD Server" type arrangement. I suppose it would have been connected to a Mac and shared out that way. I don't really know what to do with it. It's cool but I don't know that it'll stay...

I can't remember the difference between 8500 and 8600 PSU's personally. I just remember that every 8500 I ever owned either popped it's PSU within weeks of me owning it OR it already had a blown PSU when I bought it. Makes me wonder if this one will even work... It looks new to be honest.

I was originally thinking CD duplicator but they appear to all be CD-ROM drives at first glance. It's weird, I've never seen one before but I guess they went out of fashion pretty quickly. There's a box of various SCSI cards in this stash so the original card could be in there?

Brand-stinking-new 6100/66 logic board still in the box and four brand new 6100 style case "feet" with rubbers still in the packet... Wonder if I should use them for my 6100 or not!?!

I didn't take many photos of this lot before I sorted through it but I've got a few iPhone pics I'll upload.

I'd use 'em - at the end of the day these things were made to be used. I have a brand new LC630 power supply sitting in its box, in my closet here in Sydney, sealed and everything...next time I'm at home its going straight into the 630, and its PSU will be replacing the dead one in the 6200. In 2009 I bought a NIB Apple 8*24 card on eBay...it was unboxed and installed in my Quadra.

Yep, I think you're both right. The 6100/66 board has a hand written sticker on it dated 1995, $3000 !!! No wonder it didn't get used...

Here's some shocking pictures I took while unloading it all on Saturday. Bad quality and I should have taken better ones but excitement and all that...

The 9150/120 will only be mine for a week or two. It's really cool but I know someone who will appreciate it much more than me so it will join HIS collection. He has some other WGS's (a WGS 60 and a WGS 7250 from memory) and we also share an ANS 500 between us.

I removed the tape drive bezel (it had a broken clip and was barely hanging on). Took it off (read: it fell off into my hand) so it's somewhere "safe" at the moment. The CD drive bezel is unfortunately missing. The CD drive in it is not an original and the front of the tray is larger than normal so I suspect either the original drive died and the bezel no longer fitted with the replacement drive or the machine never originally had a CD drive... It'd be nice to find a bezel for it and put an Apple CD drive in...

The 6400/300 is in awesome condition, just dusty. Unfortunately at this stage it's untested too. It doesn't have the Zip drive, AV card, tuner, Ethernet or anything which I thought was weird being the top-end model. I don't know whether to deck it out or not.

There's a Mac IIvi there too. It's in the third pic, at the bottom. It looks to be very good cosmetically too. It has some cool little logos and such under the CD drive slot - Quicktime, 2x speed and something else.

I hear you on that one. I recently acquired a new in box LC630 (like Christmas!) from the same ebay seller.

I don't think I'd get anywhere near as much pleasure from it if I'd just let it sit in the box.

Only thing with my LC630 is that it lacks a full 040, which is odd because my previous one did not.

macman142- Do any of those LC630 logic boards house full 040 CPU's?

BTW- Nice Red Rider!

I don't suppose any of those spare logic boards is a 6500/300 or 6500/275? If so, I might need to ask if you'd be interested in throwing it towards someone who has plans for awesome hax... >_>

Good question, I'll have a closer look this week.

Thanks. It's so slow but it's got character.

I have a feeling there's not going to be any 275 or 300MHz boards BUT I'll have a look during the week. I bet they're all 5200/75 boards or something

If that 9x00 includes 9150 logic boards (80 or 120) and you find that any of them are defective, please don't throw them away before contacting me. I have a hack in mind which requires the FAT AMIC chip, and the probability of that being the failed component on a failed board is pretty low. I am assuming you would want to keep the working ones or know folks in Australia who would want them.

If you go back for the compacts, and you remember and have time, would you please take a glance and see if any of the Pluses or SEs have what looks like a mini-centronics (26 pin) connector coming out of the lower right-hand vent. I'm still looking for the near mythical docking card for the Outbound Model 125. Not sure there's much chance that an Apple dealer will have been dealing in Outbound stuff, but places like ComputerLand used to do both, I think. A Plus or SE with the docking card installed will not boot up. It lacks ROMs, which are in the dockable Outbound.

Thanks.

Good luck - I don't think Outbound ever sold their machines here in Australia. Which is rather ironic given that their logo was a kangaroo.

Trag,
Does the port on the Compacts look like this?
I've never actually seen one. However, the connector looks like this:

DX10G1M-26S.jpg.7a2553ae3054ebbb393870d8ec7ff47f.jpg

and according to the installation instructions, the cable was meant to be threaded out the right lower vent. Of course, individual installers might thread the cable differently.
