That's looking really good!
Thanks! Once I get the power supply recapped, I can actually turn it on again!

BMOW makes the Yellowstone disk controller that supports a lot of [3.5] drives. I recently tested one on my Laser 128. I use that disk controller for unidisk drives or the unidisk mode of a FloppyEMU. Also works with a FujuNet (pictured) :)

It's not super cheap but it is a heck of a device. Worth it IMHO.
Yeah, I saw that. Wasn't sure
To use a 3,5 drive with the Apple II, you need the Unidisk 3,5 drive, not any 800k drive.

Not sure how much I really NEED a 3.5" floppy. Then again how much is ANY of this actually *needed*?

The Yellowstone I mentioned in my 3.5" floppy rant above, and @Skate323k137 referenced, claims it can use a number of Macintosh based floppy drives. So if I decide to go for a 3.5", that's probably the route I would take.

And if that was the route I took, I would probably go with the "Apple Macintosh 800K External Drive" for how it matches the aesthetics of the IIe case and era peripherals. The legit Unidisk 3.5" uses the Snow White design language and is too much of a clash for me.

The Laser UDC card should run the Laser 128 3.5" drive. It also runs the A9M0106 and the 1.4MB SuperDrive (in A9M0106 800K mode) drives. I used one for a while with my old //e, as evidenced by the A9M0106 on top of the two disk ][ drives seen in the photo below.

Yeah, I read about that. I think that it's probably pretty obscure and rare, and because of that, I would imagine fetches a decent chunk of change. I think selling off the Laser 3.5" to fund the Yellowstone and Mac 800k would probably be the route to go.

Digging you 5.25" PC drive on the Macintosh II(xx?).

After spending a whole morning cleaning (was really gross), replacing capacitors here and there, fixing the drive speed acurately…

Everything works (some minor issues, but nothing serious)

The RGB card is working flawlessly when connected to my TV.
Nice! Looking good. I've got a capacitor kit for the IIe power supply on the way.

^Was a IIfx. Alas, due to the machine having later ROMs, the drive just spun continuously and never loaded anything from disk. Think if I'd installed the card into one of the II machines I had earlier, it probably would've worked fine.

the 74LS125 chip is the one that goes bad when cable is shifted.
Yup, it acts like a fuse. I have seen where the MC3470 chip also goes bad at the same time, though.

Replaced the 74LS125 and the drive works like a charm!

Apple II kids… Please see this thread and help me troubleshoot the Disk II interface card with a faulty Drive 2 connection:
