Hell yeah!

I scored a free Pentium 3 laptop. It is made by Enpower and is old school. It is all black and nice and boxy! I love it.

Specs:

Pentium III @ 750MHz

256MB PC100 SDRAM <-- Can go to 512 but I need 4 chip modules as 8 chip modules are not recognized.

ATI Rage 128 Mobility GPU with 16MB of VRAM! 16MB!! Sweet, most P3 era laptops came with 8. 16 is awesome.

100GB HD which I installed to replace the slow 4200RPM 12GB jobbie it came with.

15" 1024.768 LCD. Nice. It can be upgraded to a 1400x1050 panel if I ever find one.

Included the PS, the CD and a dead battery.

It runs XP SP2 nicely and Backtrack 2 great.

I love this machine, far superior to the Dell D500 I have now. I am going to sell the Dell.

That would be a pic of the lappy in question.

So it DID happen.

Oh did I mention that I got this bad boy for free! Yeah baby!

I've always been amazed by the sheer stupidity of computer makers who put CD/DVD drives on the FRONT of a laptop instead of the side where it belongs. If you're in a seat on a bus or a plane, how the HELL are you supposed to open the drive when the front of the laptop is pressed against your tummy?

Agreed! MacBook Pro's are like that too!

Considering I don't use the CD drive when it is on battery mode, it's not a big deal.
