Powerbook 100

Free from a friend who works for Apple who told me it was a Portable (go figure). The battery is dead but that was expected, it boots fine from the mains. I also got the original floppy drive (with the fold up front). 4MB RAM, 40MB HD. Claris Works 3, Word 4 and a few other bits of software. I was surprised at what a nice little machine this is, if I could only get a replacement battery.

no i think he means "raised" as in "raised". the powerbook 1xx series has a "terraced" top case, meaning the keyboard assembly mount is raised above the palm rest area, unlike most modern laptops which recess the keyboard mount area to keep the top case flush so the LCD can fit cleanly over it thus allowing the machine to be thinner overall.

The keybards are slightly raised above the palm rest. The keyboard on the PB100 is great! I have four Duo's and not one of them is usable, the keyboards used in the early Duo's spoil a great little package. The PB100 does not suffer from this problem, making it much more usable. The old batteries are a problem. I use my ac adapter at home and in the car too, making it almost mobile!!
