Ordered (2) ebay floppy eject gears, if these aren't great, I'll try the Japan set.

Regarding the missing floppy vinyl washer: I can't find them for sale anywhere, or anything close, the thickness is what sets it apart at 0.30mm thick, everything for sale is 1mm thick.

I have read now that making the washer out of an old 5 1/4" floppy, will get very close, but I only need (1) 5 1/4" floppy, that will get destroyed whether it's working or not, and ebay is about $15+ for any of them, with shipping included.

Anyone know where to get just one 5 1/4" disk, for a reasonable amount?

Just about every consumer 3D printer can do a 0.1mm layer height. It shouldn't be too difficult for someone to print a reasonably good replica. I could even do it, but it would take me a few days to get to.

Well, here's something no one ever mentioned about using peroxide in all the reading I did on this, the Apple Logo should be covered up, or it will bleach out too. I'm sure everyone else already knows this, but if you don't, don't let this happen to you, put tape over the logo, or don't use peroxide on it.

Really not happy about that.

The 4 gears I referred to on Ebay are the correct ones for your drive. Also never has a logo bleach using the paint on peroxide method

Thanks! Ordered (2) of those gears, they were put in the mail today, and they are coming from Sausalito, CA, I'm maybe an hour from there, so I should have those Monday.

The Peroxide 12% cream ate the logo off, not sure what to say about that other than beware, and don't do it to yours.

Put everything back together loosely to test things. Did not recap the Analog board, because I wanted to make sure what I've done so far hasn't had any negative effects.

So far so good.

Looks like the light on the BlueSCSI is on, so I should be ready to try an image.

Also, after recapping the Sony PSU, I checked the unloaded voltage on the +5V line, it read 5.40V, left it that way.

System 7.5.5, a 2Gb image won't fully load.

One of the Apps(?) having an issue. Hit continue.

Will stay stuck like this, and then pressing a key tries to produce an error, but there is no text.

It then repeats the reboot.

Going to try making a System 6 image, the 7.5.5 2Gb image may be too much for this 4Mb SE. I don't have a PRAM battery installed at the moment, wonder if that has anything to do with this.

Thanks! I'm at https://infinitemac.org/ now, I see the Customize and Run options, but I'm using Firefox browser on a PC, and nothing happens when I click Run.

Any idea what's wrong? Am I supposed to be able to download the image?

Just now saw the logo is replaceable, really stoked to hear that!

Do I need Bailisk II or Sheepshaver, to VM one of those infinitemac VM's?

Currently following this video, and downloaded everything contained in it.

Not sure why he refers to the ROM's as being found "in the usual places", without specifying exactly where in his notes. Reminds of the original XBOX TSOP days, where it was some gray area that couldn't be mentioned, where to get the hacked BIOS for the TSOP.

Either way found the ROM's here:

Or even easier than making a System 6 or 7 image, download a pre-made image:

6.0.8 booted in seconds, also have 7.0.1 on that card, need to figure out how to pick which one to load.

Kept playing with Basillisk II, and finally got it working. Built a 7.5.5 image with my Windows PC.
7.5.5 Basillisk II.jpg

Will make a 6.0.8, and a 7.0.1 custom image too, for BlueSCSI.

I kept getting a Black Screen with Basillisk II, I was trying to use the 512K IIci.ROM, switched to the 1MB Quadra 950.ROM, while setting the VM for the IIci, and it worked finally.
Quadra 950 ROM.jpg

Very cool program, enjoying this as much as the SE hardware.

After putting together a fresh 7.5.5 image, I now get the same error as before with 7.5.5, but now the text appears.

I'm not sure if my keyboard works correctly yet, but Restart and holding Shift does nothing, it reboots without any acknowledgement the Shift key is pressed, and then does the same error every time.

The 6.0.8 and 7.0.1 images work without issue. May have to give up on 7.5.5.

Going very well. Maybe try reseating the ROM and RAM chips on the board. Can you type when booted into 6.08 or 7. Create and new folder and try to rename it. Forgot its an SE not SE/30 you only have 4mb of memory to play with, look at memory being used in Basilisk!

I should've tried the KB when 6.0.8 was up, didn't try it on 7.0.1 either. I'll try those Retro images that both work, and see if the KB is ok. Thanks!

Looks like my keyboard is missing characters, and quite a few, including both Shift keys. I'd say I have at least 8 dead keys so far. I noticed it looks like there was water in the KB at one point, as their is actual crusty raised rust spots on the board:

The Delete key does work, surprisingly.

I think there may be a few of those spots, but that is the worst one. I got a key cap puller today, will break that KB down and see if I can repair oxidized traces, or whatever is happening there.

Do you think if I had a working Shift key, that turning off the Extensions would allow 7.5.5 to load correctly? I'll test that when the KB is back in service.

Someone on the forum will have a spare Apple logo for your SE, might be worth posting a Wanted thread in the Trading Post section of the forum for one. They push out of the bezel from the back.

Thanks for that, didn't realize there was a Trading Post section here.

Had I known the badges come out that easy, I would've removed my badge before the peroxide treatment, lesson learned. Will make that WTB right now, thanks again!

I'd source another keyboard rather than trying to fix yours. Not hard to find on fleabay. I'd then concentrate on making sure everything is working correctly by using System 7.01. When you have proved your SE is OK then have a play with higher systems. System 6.0.8 was written in assembly language and is very fast on the compacts. Enjoy You'll probably source a keyboard on WTB here as well
