So...my SE/30 board came yesterday. Its awesome, and everything. Its been recapped too, which may/may not be a bonus. And I've almost got it running an OS. Almost. Which is even more awesome. But...I have a problem. Two problems:
- The machine has jailbars, as you can see in the image below...
As some of you will know, I have an original SE. Its an original, 800k drive, SE. I also have an SE/30 logic board on its way to me, according to FedEx it will be here on the 11th.
I've learnt basically just tonight that the official Apple Mac SE to SE/30 logic board upgrade incorporated a...
Just won an SE/30 logic board on eBay. :) With this I'll not only be able to bring my SE back to life, but also give it a nice little upgrade in the process. :) As for the thread title - I always said that if I were to ever get an SE/30, I would refer to it as my Mac SEx :)
So I have a Mac SE thats giving me Simasimac. I'm thinking of washing the board and also doing something about the corrosion near the back. However, its an SE board with the battery soldered on, which obviously I want to remove. My question is- can an SE run without a PRAM battery? I know the...
I picked this one up on Monday night, but didn't get around to taking pics of it until just today.
Anyway I picked up a Dual 2 Ghz G5 from another member on MacTalk on Monday. $50 got me a Dual 2 Ghz G5 with 8GB of RAM, Radeon 9600 Pro and SuperDrive. It had no HDD (which I quickly fixed), but...
My Beige has always been a bit...well..."different". It has never liked shutting down. I shut down, and the machine reboots. Only way to kill it is to pull the plug. And one of the RAM slots is completely dead. I get the broken glass sound when RAM is installed in that slot. In regards to the...
So last Sunday I went to fire up my TiBook 500, which worked perfectly the last time I used it. Hasn't been fired up in about a month, so naturally I expected the battery to be flat, but the machine to otherwise boot.
The machine is completely dead. At this point I've tried a different power...
Clearly not since...well...2003, anyway.
Some of you might remember my caddy loader that I picked up on eBay in December, after spending the last 9 years looking for one. It developed a problem today where it wouldn't allow you to insert a disk, it would automatically suck in a disk during...
So last weekend I decided to buy myself a little present. And today it completed its trip to its new home in Sydney, a loooooooong way from its previous life in Sweet Home Alabama:
That, my friends, is an official, original, USDM 2G iPhone. I haven't really had a chance to use it much yet...
Bit over a month ago I was walking back from the bus stop after finishing up at work. We'd just had a bulky goods pickup day, all that was left was the old CRT TVs and things that the council doesn't collect. I thought all the excitement was over...or was it? Walking along, minding my own...
As some of you will probably remember, I've been after an AppleCD 300 (caddy loading) for quite some time. And today I got one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181044159003?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Cost me a bit...but I'm really quite happy about this, mine died about...
So I recently picked up a PowerBook 540c. Quite a nice machine...but with one little problem, the display:
After reseating the connections between the interconnect board and display, and switching displays and interconnect boards with my 520c, I've discovered that its the display...
So I hit up the 'Bay a couple of nights ago...I think I did quite alright:
PowerBook G4 PMU board
LC630 PSU - quite happy about this...I've had to stick my 630 DOS into my 6200 shell because the 630's PSU died
PowerBook 1xx series trackball
And I've saved the best for last...
SCSI Loopback...
...that you're going to go somewhere and find some Apple goodies. As I did today. I had to go to the dentist this morning. After that I went to a nearby tip shop that I don't visit very often. Haven't been there in a few months, but its been good to me in the past. Anyway I had a look...
Was looking at OWC the other night and I found that they have brand new 16MB 30 pin SIMMs for $9.97.
I have no idea what happens in other countries, but here in Australia at least, 30 pin SIMMs bigger than 4MB are extremely rare, and when they do come up, are usually pretty expensive, and are...
Have a look at what I just won on eBay: Link :D
Although I've been using Macs since 1993, I have actually never had a chance to play with a Newton based device before, so I'm really looking forward to it. :)
So last night I won this.
Really just wanted it for the boxed System 7, always wanted one of those. I already have a retail OS 8.5 (that I got as a birthday present back when I was 14, shortly after OS 8.5 came out), so I'll probably end up reselling that one. :)
So a few hours ago I won this on eBay. It has a bung mobo, but $325 is still pretty good value for the rest of the parts, and with my MacBook now being out of warranty, it won't hurt to have a parts machine around.
