After I leave work this afternoon, I'm going to take the trek over to North Sydney to hopefully pick up a Mac SE. More details later....

Aaaaaand I got it. Came with an Apple Keyboard II and an ADB Mouse. This weekend I'll clean it up and see what I can do about Simasimac.

Hmm, was just having a look at the back, the SCSI port is epic rusted. I wonder if there's a battery bomb on board. :'( And to make matters worse, as it turns out my long handled T15 is back in Queensland.

You don't need the long handled Torx. I've NEVER had one, a long flat blade screwdriver works just fine. Been using one for years. Although if you're going out to buy a screwdriver, might as well get the one you need.

The correct size Allen wrench works just fine as well. I bought one of the long extension Torx bits off the guy on eBay and haven't used it yet. The allen type tool from the MacConnection(?) Memory upgrade kit is just perfect.

On Friday I bought some long Torx bits on eBay, which came today. So I pulled the logic board out of the SE:

As you can see the battery looks fine, there's no corrosion around it at all. However there's a lot of corrosion near the back. Looking at the EMI shielding, and the inside of the case, it looks as if something's been spilt into/on it. Even if it is fixable....I want to be able to use that external SCSI port. So....anyone have a spare SE board? :)

Have you tested to see yet if your current board has working external SCSI? Bit of a waste to swap boards because the ports look grimy.

At the very least I'll have to try washing it first - at the moment I get Simasimac. :(
