I was not meant to own a caddy loader.

Clearly not since...well...2003, anyway.

Some of you might remember my caddy loader that I picked up on eBay in December, after spending the last 9 years looking for one. It developed a problem today where it wouldn't allow you to insert a disk, it would automatically suck in a disk during power up, whether it was actually there or not, and then not let you insert another disk until you had powered down, and powered the drive back up.

While I had it open I broke one of the ribbon cables going to the mainboard. I think it was the one for the laser. :'( And while I still have my old drive I can probably swap parts with, trouble is its back in QLD. :(

As luck would have it though, I actually bought another caddyloader on eBay a couple of days ago, its on its way. And hopefully this one won't break on me. If it does, I'm just going to have to deal with the fact that I am clearly no longer meant to have one. :(
