SuperMac VideoSpigot - no video capture, just a blank blue screen

Hey so I just dug my video spigot card out and put it in my newly repaired Mac IICX and the card shows up under MacEnvy and TattleTech on NuBus but when I launch ScreenPlay v1.1.1 the YenYang icon spins for a second and then the mouse freezes and computer locks up.

I have tried:

• System 7.1 & System 7.5.3
• Mode32 in 7.1 to enable 32 bit addressing
• Quicktime 1.0 and 1.6.1

IICX has 8mb of ram installed and a Radius video card that can to 24 bit color
Its the exact same machine and cards that I used back in the early 90's along with a Radius Rocket (currently not working or installed) to capture and edit video.
I can render out clip sin Adobe Premiere 2.0 without issue so I know quicktime is working.

Any ideas?
Anyone have a newer version of ScreenPlay? v1.2.2 or other software for it I could try?

Like I said the card is showing up so it seems to be working and if i remove the card then ScreenPlay does launch but everything is grayed out of course...
Here you can try BETA ScreenPlay v1.3b1

I did already :( All 3 versions are on Macintosh garden 1.1, 1:2, and 1.3.

It’s a bummer I finally got my iicx I had in the early 90s fixed and then both the radius rocket and the spigot card don’t work 😭

You can try putting SpigotVDIG extension in the Extensions Folder and using another capture app such as Movie Player. I've only had luck with SSW v 6.0.8

I didn’t know movie player could do a capture.
I’m not familiar with the spigotVDIG extension. Do you know where I can find that?

Yea early versions of Movie Player allowed you to capture audio and video in Cinepak format. Later Quicktime went Pro and you enabled these functions with a serial number. I'll have to dig up a copy of both for you because I got them on Gamba site which is not loading anymore and a simple search didn't have any results. I'll post it soon

This is where I downloaded them a while ago https://vintageapple.org/gamba2/vid-mon-matrix.html

Ya I remember using QuickTime Pro with serial to capture and edit. This is my original iicx and spigot. I wasn’t on system 6 at the time in was using it though. I’m sure it was 7. I had a radius rocket and the spigot. Neither are working now :(

I uploaded the Extension to Classicmac.ddns.net >Uploads>SuperMac Video Spigot. This allows you to use it with other capturing apps such as Movie Player. Movie Player from Quicktime 1.6.1 available at Macintosh Garden. Hope this helps.

The link is an AppleShare file server. So it’s address is afp://classicmacddns.net
Sorry for the confusion.

Ahh I thought I could telnet in with Black Night on the iicx. How can I get there from the actual machine running on system 7?

Only if the iicx has SSW 7.5.3, Open Transport and AppleShare client software 3.7.4, you’ll be able to use the Chooser’s “connect to server” button to connect to remoter afp server. It’s where you can enter the server address and login as a guest. A more modern Mac can easily get you in to get what you need.
I didn’t have anywhere else to upload this perhaps someone else does.

More info on this here. http://www.applefool.com/se30/

Hope this helps.

Ahh ok I should be good to go then. It’s got OT and filesharing working over Wi-Fi already but on SSW 7.1

Yes if AppleShare Client 3.7.4 is present it enables the Chooser’s “connect to server” button. Is that button present when you click on Appleshare in the chooser?

I don’t have connect to server in choose. Must be older versions. I tried 7.5.3 but no luck there.

Are you just trying to share this?
I’ll have to wait til my MacBook is back in order. Only working machines here right now are 68k ironically.

Don’t close your laptop lid onto your usb charging Jack. It’ll cost you $900 to undo the damage.

Well I rebooted into 7.5.3 but my apple share client must be older.

well I got 7.5.3 with the 3.7.4 client and put in afp://classicmacddns.net but it can’t find it. Confirmed Netscape is working.
