I wasn't really expecting that sound track, tbh. Neat photo montage, anyway.

I don't think I'd bother with the WiFi hack; I actually have type III PC cards to use, and I'd rather be able to use an 802.11g card when I boot to OS X. Plus, some CardBus cards won't work properly in the top slot.

Love that keyboard, though. Wish I could find one.

The wifi card will work under OS X, and it is 802.11g - it's an OEM Orinoco, a generic version of Apple's Airport Card used in their laptops. I have also installed the wifi into a Newton and it works great.

No problems with cardbus cards from my end either, works perfectly.

Glad you enjoyed the video.

All the best.

What? You found an 11b/11g card that works in OS 9? As far as I know, the Agere/Avaya/Lucent/Orinoco/WhoeverTheyAreToday chipset is 11b only. Apple moved to a Broadcom chipset for 11g/AirPort Extreme that works in OS X. The old 11b AirPort card is keyed as CardBus but it doesn't have the ground plane connection that most other CardBus cards have, and I'm not convinced it's genuinely CardBus electronically.

I'm very interested in this as I've been a bit of an AirPort hacker since way back in the OS 9 days (I wrote ClassicStumbler). I never found an OEM card (where did you get it?), but I do have a Sony Vaio card which is a clone of the AirPort/OEM Orinoco card with a stubby tile antenna tacked on the end.

Peace,

Drew

Hi:

Yes, the card I used works under Classic Mac, even with Apple's stock Airport software. It even does 128 bit encryption under OS 9.x.x

How did I find it? I looked and researched very hard. The following instructions tells you everything you need to know, even the model number of the wifi card - the Orinoco OEM wifi PC Card. Couple it with an iBook G4 antennae, and you are off to the races.
