Powerbook 1xx PRAM battery removal

Does anyone have any tips for removing the 'thick' lead of the Powerbook 100 series PRAM battery from the interconnect board? Thin lead comes out easily, but I have yet been able to remove the thick lead on any of mine. It's made trickier because the battery is right next to the speaker. I've heard that some choose to just leave it in, clip the battery out, and solder the new battery to the leftover lead, but I don't consider that ideal... even though it works....

Anyone have success with this?

Sorry, I meant the thin / negative end. Stubborn as a goat. The wide / positive end comes out very easily. I just soldered the new ones in to the leads I had left in. Works fine.

Also, FWIW, Panasonic announced that the VL2320 is being discontinued and the suggested replacement is the VL2330. Easier to find, fitment is the same, just higher mAh (50 vs 30).

i just rip it out with my hands and use plyers to pull the battery off the contacts usually worka without the two metal pieces breaking off

when i had to do it i didn't feel like getting my iron out. i pulled one of the tabs off of the battery CAREFULLY as to not rip it off the interconnect board, then i twisted the leads slightly left and right closeish to the board untill they snapped from metal fatigue
