I was dropping off some stuff at the local ewaste recycling center and on the loading dock I spotted an old Powerbook 100. I went in the office and asked if I could have it, but the receptionist said I'd need to ask the manager. I left him a message and he should be calling me back soon. Hopefully I'll be able to pick this up. I quick glance shows it has an after-market rechargeable battery. Maybe when I meet the manager I'll see if I can convince them to call me when other old macs come in.

On a side note, they also had some dell P4 2.8ghz PCs and LCD monitors on the dock. WHY WHY WHY do people get rid of good stuff like that? I wish I could snag the LCD monitors but I'm sure they are going to sell those!!

I guess that is the honest approach. Sometimes in a situation like that though it is best to be cheeky and just rescue the Mac anyway, otherwise you may return later to find it's been crushed or buried under a ton of PC junk. It depends on the situation really though.
