My little Mac Gadgets

Hi, I'm PowerPup. Been a Macintosh fan ever since I was 6. :D

These are my favorite gadget conquests I've conquered so valiantly over the last few years. :rambo:

(These pictures are 1024x768 and around 450kb each. I can upload smaller images if asked.)

This little gadget allows you to bridge Ethernet and LocalTalk. I found this at the local GoodWill. This thing has helped me a lot, since my PowerBook 5300 and Classic II have no Ethernet. Though I am thinking about getting a PCcard for the 5300. Still this has been one handy gadget. (At least it's a lot easier then using my PowerBook 3400 with Apple's localtalk bridge software every time.)

Just a AAUI Ethernet adapter. I've brought two of them from the same GoodWill. I had been wanting one of these for just about forever. So I could finally have Ethernet for my 6100. They both seem to have cord issues, but they still function well.

And now the pride and joy of my Mac peripheral collection. :D

AppleDesign Powered Speakers II

front, bottom of right speaker

Simply one of the best pair of speakers I've ever used. I absolutely love them. I found them about 5 years ago for $6 at the local GoodWill before they moved to their current location. (This is why I love shopping at GoodWill.) At one point I loss the little bit of black plastic that goes around the power plug. Rendering them useless for a few weeks. The cable for the left speaker has a little bit of a cord issue but it barely anything so I hardly ever have to mess with the cord to fix it.

(Oh and if I placed this in the wrong spot, will a mod please move it accordingly? Thanks.)

I like the speakers. Someone locally is selling a black set with the white Apple logo, but I'd prefer the old style.

Is that for running networking daemons? :p
Heh, well I hadn't thought of that for my 6100. But who knows? ;)

Congratulations on the Apple Powered Speakers. They are lovely, aren't they?
Thanks. And yes, they are. :D Though I realized the indoor lighting makes them look like they've yellowed a little, which they haven't.

..... Still, I should give them a cleaning some day. :p

The AppleDesign speakers are great. I actually use mine on my stereo, not a computer.

Welcome to the board!!! Did you get your user name from the office assistant found in Office 97?

Yeah, occasionally I will hook up my mp3 player to them. At one point I would use my 6100's s-video in and use the speakers together and watch movies or play video games in my room that way. Once in a long while I just bring in my Apple IIc display and use it with the speakers. Thats just how awesome they are. :D

Thanks! Actually, I got my user name from a project I'm doing with Linux.

My project is called "PowerPup." I'm trying to port Puppy Linux, (one of my favorite and ever increasing in popularity linux live CD for x86.) To PPC macs. (Hence the name, "PowerPup.") It's a very slow process because I'm still somewhat new to Linux. But I've also been helping with trying out the nubus 2.6 test kernels at http://nubus-pmac.sourceforge.net/ . So maybe one day it will run on vintage macs as well. :D

(I still think Mac OS is cool. I just think Linux is also cool.)

Welcome to the 68kMLA, comrade!

Congratulations on your score! I've never seen the APDS II in Platinum, they really look sweet! I'd always thought they were only available in PBGray/Black/Whatever. =8-\

The "RugRat" recently returned to me, the original, APDS (1) refurb pair I'd given him as a gift to go with the Quadra 630 I built into his custom computer desk/bedroom set waaaay back when the 630 was new! It was set up as a workstation/entertainment center for him by day and as a Graphics Workstation for me when he was asleep.

His speakers are just sitting on display ATM, along with the rest of his rig, but they'll all be hooked up again when I (if ::) I ever ) finalize my living room play/workstation/display setup!

By then I will most likely have picked up the original, credit card sized, remote control he relocated for me up back up in the Big Bad Apple! [:D] ]'>
