LC II - first recap job!

So I finished my first ever recap job on my LC II, which had sound problems and gave me a Sad Mac on startup with any hard drive. Obviously my soldering skills are pretty crappy, and I didn't have two of the needed tants, but I got the job done! Going to clean this off and power it on tomorrow.

I owe a big thank you to everybody here for giving me the courage to take upon the job, especially uniserver with his diagrams!

Nice job. I went through 3 LC boards on my very first attempt at soldering. I kept breaking the solder pads off.

great JRL, hey what cap removal method did you end up using?

also i would re-heat up and lay those radials down if at all possible sir.

Thanks! I was worried about that a lot but thankfully the cap removal went along fine.

I used a wire cutter to pinch off the top of the caps, desoldered the loose leads, and put on my new caps. Already bent the radials down!

Yup, it works with great sound and it boots off a drive now! Just tried it out :)

Hah nice job, the first Mac i recapped myself was my IIci.

Gotta have to get me some nice new caps for my LCII (P400) too... the logic board is sitting capless on the shelf now :C

(I even managed to glue a pad back that i lifted before anyone could see it :rambo: )
