So I started recapping this Hitachi (I think) PSU for my SE project and as you can see there is some bad corrosion from leaky caps. I don't THINK there's any trace damage but some heavy solder mask dage in spots and just 91% iso isn't taking off all the harder black areas.
I accidentally bought caps for an Astec PSU and I don't know if it's worth returning them to console5 or I'll end up losing money still to get the correct ones for this PSU.
IN SUMMARY: is this worth saving? I don't own any solder mask and would have to order it and I'm unsure how far the damage is. Previous owner powered it up to post pics on eBay and then it shut off on him part of the way through.
Since I already have caps for an Astec PSU should I just source one of those? Which of the SE PSU models are best anyway? And how can I identify the brand from the outside if I can't see the PCB?
