Landed a PowerBook 1400c/166 + 64MB of RAM (yes, the full caboodle), and all the peripherals and even a rehabilitatable battery, for cost of shipping. In great shape. I'm going to merge it with my current PB and move the G3 and accessories to it since my current one is getting a little flaky.

Very nice! Even better with the Active Matrix Screen.

They are getting harder and harder to find. I picked up a 1400cs recently with 64MB, but the LCD is too dim to be of much use :(

Enjoy your new toy!

Congratulations! Yes, I have noticed these drying up on the 'bay. Mine are still working well, but I am always on the hunt for more RAM. If anyone knows of any places with affordable 32MB or 48MB cards, I'm all ears...

Yeah, I'm hoarding my own stack of RAM cards.

Just got the 4GB drive, the G3/466, the 8-bit video out and the Ethernet and modem cards transferred from the old 117 into the new 166 yesterday, and carefully moved the Sonnet sticker over (it tore, so I had to trim a bit -- the things we do for vanity). Finally put the custom cover on, et voila, refurb 1400.

Running Classilla like a champ. I'm sure it's just an illusion, but it seems snappier with the new motherboard, and it helps that the screen doesn't have a stuck line (damn you Wegener Media) and that the PRAM battery in this one still holds a charge. Replacing PRAM batteries in the 1400 is a PITA. The old one will become parts. Vaya con Dios, old Paint 117MHz.

I've been trying to find a Video Out port for my 1400 but without any luck. I now have the custom cover for mine thanks to my recent semi-working 1400 purchase.

Now if only I can find a dying 1400c with a good LCD, video out, and the G3 466 in it for cheap :)

The video cards were hard to find even a number of years ago when I tracked this one down (it's a genuine Apple card). I want the 16-bit card, but I have little hope of finding one.

FTR, the card is slow as molasses, and of course only supports 8-bit video. Nevertheless it was good enough for me to do presentations in ClarisWorks as a medical student.

Nicely done! I had a PowerBook 1400c/166 like yours, alas with only 16MB RAM - even secondhand and having been quite loved, it served me through highschool right until the logic board fritzed.

Congratulations!
