Apple Macintosh Video Card 630-0400 Preproduction Trident v1.0a1

I purchased a Macintosh IIx that had been upgrade to a IIfx. However, the pleasant surprise was that the computer held a pre-release Apple Trident video card.

The ROM is indeed different than the production release. In fact, the Apple codename shows up in the Monitors control panel. Notice this is a 24-bit video card. So, I guess this eventually became the Macintosh Display Card 8*24 820-0600.

According to TattleTech, the video driver was loving called 'Elmer'

Here is the preproduction card, front and back.

Here is the production version front and back. Still a Trident, though.

Some of the tiny parts moved and the ground plane was expanded.
