With the lack of developed reasoning and toxic attacks not based on actual tangible thought... It feels like back in the "urgh, you use a Mac, macs are shit" days in the 90s (did you not get that in the US? We certainly did here in the UK - you were unable to join a discussion about anything computer related if they knew you had a Mac because they were two busy mocking you for having a computer that couldn't do anything at all, apparently), or when you used VBA a few years back (for many of us this was basically a necessity due to work policies).

i feel like technology like this has existed before, and we never even thought of it. it just got more advanced now, and people are attacking others solely on using it. i am not entirely pro-AI, but if it comes to helping you make the program along with your own work, i don't see an issue.

OK, so the video capture card handles both video encoding and decoding? Re: Voice Recognition-that's hard. I remember working on a Samsung Symbian OS phone in the mid 2000s which supposedly had voice recognition on its 300MHz ARM11 CPU, but in fact responded to every phrase with: "Did you say «murf, smurf, mmmerrff»?"

The video path in the demo above decode-only: the two on-board Philips chips take analog in and produce digital out, while TV encoding on the 840AV is a separate chip that I haven't emulated yet.

The voice recognition I have in mind is ~10 years older (and probably much more primitive) than the Samsung G810 - I'm trying to get my emulated 840AV up and running with Apple "PlainTalk" voice recognition (it was powered by the DSP3210). I'm getting a lot of «murf, smurf, mmmerrff» right now :-)

@PappaDF . Of course, another obvious use for the DSP is to implement a synthesiser. A Basic FM operator is: Op[x]=Sine[((phase[x]+=Freq[x])+Op[Mod[x]])>>25]*Vol[x]. I think a DSP3210 at 66MHz (16.5 MIPS) could manage about 1M operators/s. That's 22 operators at 44kHz, enough for a OPL 2 work-alike (18 operators). If the 68040 could support another 10 operators the Q840AV could emulate a 4-op x 8 note poly synth (like a DX-21).

Extending the scope of my small emulator project. The DSP3210 is just a stub for now (enough to let it boot) and still a work in progress. Let's see how far I can push this.

Well, I saved two 580 style machines from the e-waste crusher. Put industrial 4GB CF cards in both and added BlueSCSI 2's on the end for wifi and functionality. Feeling happy I rehomed one of them with a local enthusiast who was sad when his parents recycled it when he went off to college.

Carmen Sandiego 3.5 works wonderfully. Ssheven for some reason does not. Oh well.

People complaint about the 580 but honestly with a good keyboard and snappy boot disk, it feels quite normal and good!

Nice! What hardware & software did you use to create it? What did you use to digitise the photos? Or is it all hand airbrushed and a knife and paste?

Traditional airbrush, typesetting galleys, and print production techniques from back when.
I am using my iPhone 17 Air & adjusting.
Here is a photograph of the store counter stand, which for my portfolio, I had glued some of the brochures that were normally in a holder. The monster image is the mechanical of the black ink of the dealer mailing. The finished ones are MIA which would have had a red plate for the stripes in the box.
Guess who the monster in the lower left is an homage to.

You can see the difference in the clouds of these two images, he didn't like how it came out in the first round so I revised it to make the clouds more friendly.
