Total Systems Mercury difficulties in SE FDHD

So I picked up a dual SE FDHD with a Total Systems Mercury upgrade (16 MHz 030), and it's having a weird set of problems. 

The original motherboard came to me with a shot SCSI bus so for now I decided to move the FDHD roms and upgrade to another SE board I had here. 

Right now, there are the following issues:

-The 16 MHz '030 is recognized as a 16 MHz '020 by Tattletech/Techtool/etc..

-Both versions of Gemstart don't want anything to do with the board (they act as if no card was installed at all)

-The card has a 68882 FPU installed (not original to the card but it was installed by the previous owner) but it isn't recognized. Of note the FPU is a 25 MHz chip but the one provided by Total Systems with this upgrade was a 20 MHz.

I haven't tried the Mercury upgrade in another SE just yet.

Hoping someone else has one of these upgrades as well!

I messed around with one of these in a Plus for weeks before I got it working right. If TattleTech sees an 020 instead of the 68000 on your mobo, the board is presumably good and working right. Sounds like a driver config issue. How did you set the switches when you installed Gemstart? What system version are you running?

For FDHD you need to move the roms *and* the SWIM chip

Whoops, I was indeed not being smart with how I set up GemStart. Works great now!

I want to put an accelerator in my plus. Will this work? Or is it just for an SE?

That one is just for an SE via PDS - the Mac Plus accelerators attach to the CPU by a "Killy clip"

I can’t tell for sure but that card does look like it has a 68000-shaped row of dots ... are those holes where one could attach a Killy clip? (Still need the clip though)

Very likely, it seems like the MicroMac Performer was similar to this, as it too came in Killy Clip or PDS variations, for the Plus and SE respectively. Not too surprising, given those Macs were sold side-by-side, it would have been cheaper to just have one board design that could be catered to either machine.

You can run that card in a Plus as well but you will have to solder it on top of your 68000 (or get a clip from somewhere)

Also you‘ll have to solder a jumper wire between the accelerator and the logicboard to get the 16MHz clock signal to the accelerator.
