Bought a nice 3.5" External Floppy drive off of eBay. Complete with original box, plastic, and foam protectors! All for $25 shipped! Sort of a Happy Birthday to me present. More might be coming later on...

Bought an LCD panel for the Blueberry iBook (FINALLY) and a brand new 60GB Fujitsu 4200-rpm (8MB cache) 2.5" IDE drive for the iBook G4, since the original 60GB 4200-rpm Toshiba gave out. Glad I bought them before I started spending money on computers, so I can finally add these Macs back as fully functional to my list of computers (and also because my MBPwR is going in for repairs soon due to a display problem with early models).

Bought a Performa 200 off of eBay. Couldn't find out much info about this model, but I found out it is essentially a Classic 2, carrying a Performa badge. It was apparently the only compact Performa ever made, and was the lowest end model of the first 3 Performas introduced in the early 1990's. Included was the original ADB mouse, Apple Adjustable Keyboard, some System Install disks for 6.0.8, Word 6.0 (for PowerMacs) and 6.0.1.

Total paid: $55. A good deal in my eyes.

UPDATES:

Floppy Drive, HDD, and iBook LCD all came in.

HDD came in earlier this week, got it installed in the iBook G4, works BEAUTIFULLY! Its still 4200rpm, so a little slow, but better then nothing right? No hiccups, good buy.

LCD came today. I got it installed and it works great. I had some problems installed the display data cable due to human error, but all is good now. This is also the first time I have operated on 2 Macs in one week!

Floppy drive came today also, with the drive, box, and original Apple-branded styrophome! I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the box, as it looks like it was used to send something a while back, as to and from labels are on one side of the box, and below it is an old-school UPS tracking label. I haven't had time to the test the drive, but it looks as stated in the auction.

The new floppy drive works great, now to just to figure out what's wrong with the other one and get that drive installed into the 512kE.

The Performa should be here by Wednesday (that is if FedEx's tracking is correct). It seems that more software is included then I originally thought. In fact, I believe it is coming with the original install floppies! If so, this is going to be one of my greatest finds yet!

My aunt and uncle gave me some pretty cool Apple stuff today. Here's the list:

iPod Shuffle Product Red box (she gave me the iPod a few months ago, just now found the box)

2 iPhone 3GS boxes. No headphone, sync cables or charging bricks, but all the booklets (including Apple Stickers) and SIM Ejection tool

AirPort Express 1st Gen with the original box and documentation (including software CD!)

And the grand finale!:

An iPhone 3GS!

It was his old phone, had no use for it, so he gave it to me. Upgraded it to 6.1.3 (I'm surprised that it is still supported!) and it runs like a champ! The only problem is, since my cousins were using it in the later part of its life, the glass is starting to bow inward, so I'm going to try and fix it with a new panel.

Time for some (late) updates:

Performa: I'm still trying to figure out what the seller wants to do.

Quadra: the case was SHATTERED internally. The supports for EVERYTHING inside, power supply, fan, HDD, FDD, MoBo, were GONE. Case was cracked in a couple spots, and the lid won't go on properly. Seller refunded. I tried it today (with an item from todays conquest) and it worked BEAUTIFULLY (besides needing a PRAM battery and moving around some Extensions).

And I had another conquest today!

I was browsing craigslist a week ago, and a free LaserWriter popped up. I didn't really read the post, just Apple, LaserWriter and free!

One problem, the lady was about 40 miles away. Plus, she had just left town. So I re-read the post, apparently the Mac she was using with it died one day. OK. Chatted with her a bit, and the Mac was bought at the same time, around 1993. The poor thing was doomed for the e-cycling bin tomorrow. Turns out she had a doctor appointment today about 5 miles from my house, so I said "OK, lets do it!". I got tied up at the Apple Store with a problem with my iPhone, but we met later down the street from the store, and I got see exactly what she had:

Quadra 650 (goes with the 605!) (baseline model with no CD drive)

Apple ColorPlus 14" monitor

External SCSI CD drive

Apple Mic

3rd party keyboard

ADB II mouse

LaserWriter Select 360

spare toner cartridge

all the original cables!

Best part, my first conquest (besides the iMac G4) to come with original documentation!:

Macintosh User's Guide for Desktop Macs

LaserWriter Select 360 Users guide

Getting Started with your Macintosh Quadra 650

Appel Resource Guide

And the System Disks! (some might be missing)

I don't know what the problem is with the 650, I'm thinking power supply. I tried it with a known good power cable, didn't work. Any ideas?

The LaserWriter is supposed to work, so we will see. I can sleep well tonight knowing I saved another Mac from the scrap pile (plus, the 3 hours standing around arguing with Genius' helped too).

Best part? My first FREE conquest!

I was just going through the documentation for the 650, and inside the back of the "Resource Guide" was some booklets about the software license. I started flipping through the pamphlets, Software License, Limited Warranty, Tech Info,

and my first set of rainbow Apple Stickers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't tell you how cool this is for me! Completely unused, both the full sized and little sized ones. So cool!

Picked up a brand new iPod nano 6th Gen off of Craigslist for $90. It's the watch style one, and it looks really cool! 8GB orange (more like gold) bought in November of 2010. Seller said it was his elderly roommate's iPod which she got as present, and she didn't know how to use it. She later passed on and it got passed to the other elderly roommate, who didn't know anything about iPods or computers, and tried to charge it. She then put it back together in the box, and set it on the shelf. They started spring cleaning, and the iPod was the first to go. I love it so far. I like how I can listen to live radio on it without using data.

I used to have a 16GB Graphite model, but I sold it about a year ago.

Also, swapmeet tomorrow! Excited to find some awesome Apple stuff!

Well, I didn't get anything at the swapmeet yesterday. Not very much to grab since I only had $40:

iMac (Aluminum Intel model, mid-2007 to early-2009) $550

iMac G4 (15" OS 9 model) $40

2 PowerBook G4s (#1 1.5GHz with 10.4.10, bottom half of screen didn't work #2 for parts, working LCD no HDD, ODD, battery) $70

4 Power Mac G5s (different models, one was a dual processor, dual core model (4 cores)) $250 each

2 more Power Mac G5s (unknown specs) $350

1 Power Mac G4 MDD (unknown specs) $20

There was also a PB G3, I couldn't tell what model it was. The guy who was selling the 2 G5's and the MDD who bought it before I got there (I asked).

Walked away with all my money.

Went to a couple yard sales on CL before heading home, one listing was from the thrift shop where I bought the Sawtooth. Nothing much, mostly antiques. They did have an Imation SuperDisk Drive. They wanted $10, brought it down to $7 and brought it home. The outside box is torn up, but the drive and software were brand new. The only remaining part of the external box was a part that said Mac with the pre-OS X Finder logo.

Picked up a Centris 610 off craigslist today for $20. Decent shape, but I had to take it down about a flight and and a half of short, slippery and crooked stairs. I hate stairs and have big feet, so walking down with the Centris and keyboard was not easy when I was trying to keep my balance and keep the computer from slipping out of my hand. When I got it home, I couldn't get it to boot up. I will hear the hard drive and fan kick on, but it won't chime unless I hold down the reset button. Even then, no image is displayed. Any ideas?

It also came with a generic power cord and a very dirty Extended Keyboard II.

those always need caps as well...

:p

I am able to do so if interested.

We can do all tantalums on that one if you want.

I'll have to think about it uniserver. I'm practically broke right now. I will have to recap it at a later date.

When I had to hold down the reset button to even hear the chime, I knew it was probably the caps.

Also worth mentioning that I did remove the PRAM battery.

Try a good PRAM battery first and see if it gets any further. Very solid score!

I think it's supported because it's the current bottom-rung budget option.
Anyway, I am getting one for myself soon, except it has cracked (but functional) glass.

I intend to replace it anyway, so that's not a big deal.

It's a GSM model, so it should work for any experiments I might have to perform.

I'll post more details in my own thread later (like, when I get it ::) ).

p.s. How's your iPhone working for you? What carrier, if any?

Just to add to the iPhone discussion, after my AT&T service was over, I removed my sim card, the wife and I have been using Google Voice + Talkatone (iPhone App) to make free Wifi phone calls and TXT MMS messages as well.

On the road we can still use our phones wtih TruConnect, Its a Wifi Hotspot that is billed by megabyte, 3.9 cents per.

+ as you know, most everywhere has WIFI nowadays, so the hotspot works out good for phone calls, great for TXT's/eMail (low on the MB's).

Been using this for about a year now, its really saved us A-LOT of money!
