A different type of conquest today. I managed to successfully pack and ship a Macintosh TV from Arizona to New York and it arrived safe and sound, in one piece.
With everyone’s experiences shipping LC 5xx based systems, I was extremely hesitant. In the end, I went with the following:
Heavy duty extra large moving box from uhaul. Then deconstructed large boxes from Lowe’s and used Tacky glue to increase the strength of the box.
An entire roll of 1 inch bubble wrap from Lowe’s. Gave a good 4 or 5 inches around the entire system, then taped tight around the corners to form good cushion from every angle.
An incredible amount of peanuts on the bottom of the box (3 inches worth). Then various cushion materials to keep the computer centered in the box.
Last, packing paper to hold the keyboard and other accessories centered in the top of the box.
The computer was orientated screen face down.
All in all, nearly $50 and 4 hours time spent in packing materials alone. BUT, it did make it across the country in one piece.
