As Bunsen writes about empty solder pads to mount memory units it reminds me to ask for basic information regarding "FrankenRAM" modules. I would like to make a single 48 MB module from two 24 MB modules with plenty of empty solder pads for memory units. But I do not want to end up with one broken module made from two working modules
If anymone could provide a story of success on how to produce a living Franken(V)RAM module using memory units from several smaller modules, please share the details.
Don't forget that most 5xxes shipped with XC68LC040s, while most 190s shipped with MC68LC040s. The main difference is that the latter fixes an FPU emulation bug that made it unusable on the older revision. I wonder whether any desktop Macs had an MC68LC040.
