So today I get call from my youth pastor saying "Somebody has donated a black macbook(lucky!). My iBook just sort of growels at me so I may give it to you to tinker with(it needs a new hard drive)."

I'm very stoked because I used to barrow it from him back in 2005 to edit movies for him before I got my own mac. And a year or so ago when I was nursing his dead hard drive back to life I got the battery replaced since it was recalled. I cannot wait!

Any neat things I should/could do to it besides replacing the hard drive?

NICEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

You can do the glowing Apple Mod, where you change the color of the Apple. Those are great laptops, I have one in my collection, it's my mom's.

Slight update.

He forgot to bring it with him when I saw him twice this week so far....

I really would like to get it before I go on the winterfest trip two weekends away so I can use it on the trip.

It's here!

He wasn't kitting about the growling thing, bearings in the hard drive are causing the noise. Thankfully I had a spare drive and it's installing Leopard nicely. All my tiger disks are missing in action for some reason...

Oh well, this will make a nice addition to my portable life. When I need to edit with iMovie, it'll be there, as well as ProPresenter. :D

It's a 1.07GHz G4 w/ 768MB of ram, extra 512MB added by me last summer for him, and a 100GB drive. Hope it serves a while. :D

Leopard disk failed, so I dug a little more and found a tiger disk.
