LC 475 installation woes

After having this happen tons of times, I no longer put the case back on until everything is working perfectly!

Ok, I booted from the OS 7.6 CD.  Looks like what happened is that after installing the 7.6.1 update, the system folder became unblessed.  It just so happened that the timing was just before I put the top on the 475 so that was a red herring.

How the heck to I bless it again?

And I don't have a fan on the full 040, but it does have a pretty good sized heat sink on it.

Okay, as per Jag's House page, opening and closing the system folder a couple of times re-blesses it.  Not sure if this works for early than 7.6, but I'm glad to know the trick.

Next challenge ... after upgrading to 7.6.1, the option to have resolutions higher than 640x480 has disappeared from the Monitors control panel Options screen.  It was there before.  And I did notice that about every other boot, it would go back to 640x480 with other options missing, but then a reboot would fix it.

My 475 has 2x512k VRAM chips in it so should be able to 1024x768 and one greater resolution.

One of my tricks (also works like System Picker) is to remove the "System" file from the System folder and add it back in. The System Folder should then change its icon to indicate it's a System Folder. Only one System Folder can be active, so this won't work if another one is already blessed.

So:

Remove System from active System Folder

Remove System from desired target System Folder

Replace System in desired System Folder (will be blessed)

Replace System in active System Folder (can't re-bless because the other one is already blessed)
