How much would you pay for a dead 2400?

Hello all :b&w:

I saw a dead PowerBook 2400 floating around a local auction website and starting price is just HK$99. The seller should be an experienced Mac collector and he says probably the motherboard is dead (Green Light of Death). That's why he is selling it as parts.

I've got a functional PowerBook 2400 with JIS keyboard and wonder if I should get that dead PowerBook 2400 as well (It has US keyboard).

Spec: 180MHz/1.3G/80MB

(Both the selling one and my PB)

Should I go for it? :p

Thanks :D

Finally I placed HK$111 (~US$15) and will get the mac this evening :D

Hope it's easy to fix... :p

Finally I grabbed the PowerBook at HK$111. Pretty cheap as a parts machine.

I tried to power it on but it appears the GLOD or Click of the Death.

So I opened it and had a look and found that the PRAM Battery should be new because it was a mess around the battery but not on the battery.

Now I'm hanging here and don't know what to do next... :O

When you say a mess around the battery, what do you mean? Corrosion? White powder? Can you post a picture?

Green/White powder around, probably leakage from the original PRAM battery.

Weird... I was bored and keep on pressing the PMU Reset button but it still ignoring me, so I closed the lid (hardly) and it chimes... then booted 8-o

I played with it for awhile until it crashed suddenly and sleeps again.

Grr... Pussy cat. > :(
