Hey, nice score, the Lime is a rare beast, hope you will find a screen.

IIRC this is the only model you can swap another screen and change resolution.

I have a lime and I love the green.  A new screen should be easy as any ibook clamshell screen should go right in.

Yeah, other than the broken screen the thing is in good shape. As Bibilit said, there is a way to put a 1024x768 in there, just have to find the correct cable and screen. Should be a nice mod to do.

CC_333 , i'll sure tell you if I see a Graphite leaf :) Mind you the Graphite is the only one i don't have, i have that Lime, that other Tangerine running fine but waiting for an Apple logo, a beautifull Blueberry alas with failed backlight, and an Indigo working great in perfect shape.

Raoulduke, thks will check that 5300 again, long time i didn't took it out the closet. It was a Wallstreet not taking a cardbus... The 3400 are working ok. I think i've posted some picts of the mainboards (240MHz) of the nonworking ones i have in the 3400c thread.

Louis, yes ! I've cheked that, i can see some screens that would do on the bay, but the cable is more difficult to come by.

The screen resolution does not support the DVD playback so I wouldnt do that as then its just a regular ibook with higher resolution.  Lots of adjusting with command line to switch res and things.  Unless your trying for a real reason the hack on a lime is kinda ...... doesnt have any real gains.

Well 800x600 is really small... And i almost never play DVDs. Why not trying.

Anyway, was looking for a way to reproduce these infamous apple falling leaves, maybe this would do the trick :

With a correct mix of pigments, could get all the colours you want. Then stuck it in a mold made with a standard leaf taken from a lid.

Some creatives hobbies afternoon.

bought some moldable Translucent plastic, comes in small bricks of different colours, the green one being a good match with the iBook Lime colour plastic.
Leave it in hot water for 5 mn and you get a modeling paste that harden very quick, it's completely reusable, just put it back into hot water if you don't like the shape.

Also bought some polymer clay blocks that can be harden in oven.
Took the leaf of my Blueberry iBook, and did a mold with the clay. Once cooked, I pressed the melted plastic into the mold.
You can get different shades by mixing the colours. Did a bunch of them.

Looks better on the pict without flash… The Apple Lime plastic is very bright.
I think it's not tooo bad until I get a real Lime leaf
Now a screen...

You know, I have a screen from an Indigo I parted out, which you can have, if interested. Last I knew, it worked, though the backlight *might* be failing (I can't remember), but the screen itself is not cracked, so the backlight could be replaced, giving you a nice display for your Lime.

If you want it, send me a PM.

it was long since I had not had a « new » machine .
This time it’s Bibilit’s fault. Merci Louis :)

A PowerBook 160, only problem is the screen, but it’s finally usable when setting it to BW with a dark desktop . If set to greyscale, it turns negative with low contrasts… Wanted to swap it with one of another no working 160, but turns out the screen of that one is even worse.
Otherwise work fine (good to have one with a good Hd too !!) :

Nice Gaël,

When your Pwb 100 will be finished (expecting some caps right now) we will have a look at those screens... :)

Yeah it's neat :) Don't even know where it's made, no markings on it.
Problem is , try to drink coffee in a angled sides mug… sure to spill coffee on your keyboard :D
So I use it to hold pens an such

Thanks to Bibilit who replaced ALL the caps !

I have yet to find a good hd, but for now boots just fine on a zip.

Baby is still temperamental though, doesn't want to boot with both SCSI zip and the floppy drive connected. You have to choose which one you want before booting. Funny.

But the seller agreed to refund part of the money. And with a replacement screen it's just fine.

Plus it has a 128mb Ram card...
