Still an improvement on 233MHz.
But there are other software and hardware issues.

Physically alone you need an adapter board between the chip and the PCB, then you need to modify the heatsink. The drivers won't likely recognise the 7447a, and you can't use OpenFirmware to trick things on a 6100 like you can on PCI macs.

Then I think the chip has onboard L2, so you'd need to deal with the cache on the PCB...

This list is not exhaustive.

It isn't pin compatible. Plus you're on a 30MHz bus, and so wont be able to get a good speed from it due to limited bus multipliers.
My parts 6100 is a 66MHz machine, (I've never had it running, but it was sold to me as being working, but with no HDD (or HDD sled), plus it was a non CD model)

528MHz + 20% = 633.6MHz 10.5X original speed! (theoretically)

I'm really not thinking straight!
40MHz x 16 = 640MHz

Back to some sanity... I'm going to try and find time to look at NewerTechnology drivers on my HDD in the next few days.

Well, I can’t see anything that looks like a Newer Technology or MAXPowr extension.

So, just noticed something (actually in my spare parts 6100/66…
We all know that a standard hard drive fouls the vram sticks on HVP cards (where fitted)
But, if the metal shield in the front of the case is removed, the drive can be slid forward a little…
And the case still closes.

It sits forward by 14.5mm or 0.57 inches.
Here is a trial fit with drive and 4mb card fitted…

Sled could probably be modified, but it’s a nasty thing to do if it’s a good condition…
(plus there’s nothing that would need dremmeling off on the inside of the case)

And now CD's don't appear on screen. Norton utilities can see the drive, but that seams to be it as of last night, and Disc doctor stalled at apparently the same place twice, and after 45 minutes + I abandoned the scan each time.

I'd suggest just disabling (not deleting) the Mac OS 9 System folder and installing 7.1.2 on the same disk alongside it...

Except that 7.1.2 is too old to be guaranteed to work :/ It might, but if you're trying to troubleshoot a component, you want the most vanilla setup possible.
Well, I've drawn a blank, how do I disable (but not delete) the Mac OS 9 System folder to instal 7.1.2 on the same disk alongside it?

Can I get get a 256GB SSD to be a bootable 'disc' for the 6100? Does it need to spoof an Apple HDD?

The Software I have, is the Software I have - ATM. I did ordered some blank CDs, I still await their arrival.

Move the System suitcase file out of the Mac OS 9 System Folder. Put it in a folder named "Mac OS 9 System File" so you know where it came from. This will disable the Mac OS 9 System Folder (it won't have the system folder icon anymore). You'll probably want to move the Mac OS 9 System folder as well, so that installing another System Folder won't affect it.

6100 can only boot SCSI HDs. Get a SCSI adapter.

Thanks, I'll do that, this weekend if not before.

I have an Acard AEC 7732 68pin SCSI to SATA, plus a 68pin SCSI to 50pin SCSI adaptor. Plus 2 Samsung 256gb (850EVO) SSDs.

That seems super expensive. Does it work? It appears to be for connecting a SATA optical disk drive to a 68 pin SCSI computer. The 68 pin is LVD. Can that be converted to 50 pin?

They have other adapters.

But the SCSI SD adapter options are probably much less expensive. I think pm6100 is limited to 5 MB/s.

But I have an Acard AEC 7732 on my shelf, only just out of arms reach.
And the 68pin to 50pin SCSI adaptor is on the same shelf.

I’ve spent this evening disabling system 9, and installing 7.5.(1?) it all appeared to work perfectly, so I installed the Newer Technology driver.
It seemed like a good idea at the time, but when it suggested I should Restart, it then couldn’t start. It got stuck immediately after the Newer Technology logo.
Several re-restarts later and it worked. I don’t remember how to get 7.5 to tell me what CPU and speed it’s running, but it feels significantly faster than 60mhz.
