No particular reason except its much more available, cheaper and with cheaper shipping from Japan than from anywhere else for me, I'm in Serbia. Came out to around €45 shipped for keyboard and about €20 shipped for mouse and mousepad. The motherboard came from there too, all using yahoo auctions (their ebay-like auction house) via a proxy shipping service, its a goldmine of Apple and retro stuff in general, but shipping an entire computer or anything bulky is too expensive and also risky if it includes a CRT. There's also import customs and local VAT costs to take into consideration.
