Using Zip drive as HDD for Macintosh Plus

Oh man, thanks guys! Any idea why the driver isn't loading?
If you format the Zip drive with the oldest Zip Tools the a driver gets written on the disk and the OS extension is not needed for the disk to mount. Then you just copy your OS files to the disk. I've done it all the way up to 8.6.

4.2 is the needed version.

One of the tricky bits to watch out for is if you're booting a Plus from a Zip disk with version 4.2 of the boot driver on it, but then stick that disk into your G3 (or whatever) which has a later version of the driver loaded, it will automatically over-write the 4.2 driver on the disk with whatever driver it is using, rendering the disk unbootable on the Plus until you reinstall the 4.2 driver on the disk. The disks have a driver written in the boot area on the disks which is separate from the extension driver that gets loaded. Iomega apparently assumed you would always want the latest version of the driver on your disks.
Just FYI
