I wonder if it will have a different gestalt without that rom sim though, maybe it will identify itself as a 6500?It WILL work without that ROM SIMM for sure.
His has a rom simm, yours doesn't?There is no ROM SIMM for the TAM, never was unless proto.
Good theory on the ROM with startup chime. I can not say, but falen5 I think has the skills to swap ROM chips if needed.

And the plot thickens... The funny thing is that the 6500 board has the pads for the rom but not the socket?The part number shows its a G3 ROM? I wonder if someone thought it was or is needed for the upgrade card? I never heard of that if so. And like I said, the TAM never shipped with its own ROM card.
