SCSI2SD PB Edition and PB 5xx - dumb question

JRL

So I was getting ready to set up my SCSI2SD with my 540c, only to realize that the 540c's HD cable is keyed in a certain way so that nothing can go in pin 17 and the SCSI2SD is not (it doesn't have the missing pin 17 that the CF PowerMonster and other SCSI drives have)

For those using SCSI2SDs with their 5xxs, am I right in assuming that I have to break off pin 17 of the SCSI2SD?

Does the cable have a solid fill for pin 17 or does it have one of those removable plastic filler pins? If it is solid, then you will have to break off pin 17. If the other case, then you can remove that filler pin, but be careful to plug the cable in with the correct orientation.

Bend it back and out of the way (insulate it) - test it out before clipping it.

On cables without a visible filler pin, I've been able to just push the pin through it since the plastic is pretty thin. You have to be sure you're pressing straight on though or you may bend something.
