Basically, merge two into one and keep and repair the least broken plastics on the way. Note the 1710 had a pretty substantial recall on the CRT/video controller board or were replaced with a completely new model CRT when returned to Apple. Hopefully one of yours has the replacement controller board (recall mine was marked pretty clearly when I opened it up, it had bright stickers and marking in permanent marker).
Regarding the plastics, usually you can strengthen them up from the inside, the spines/vents around the back snap easily be as messy as you like on the inside and nothing will show up externally.
Not their finest model, but if you can get a working one, you'll love the IQ.
