theres still a good chance it could have been because of hardware fault in his specific hardware - especially since we are talking about stuff that was cheaply made 20 years ago

Well, before things get that drastic, I would* sure try some different disk software first.your IDE is still going to be dead... unless you get knee deep into the nitty gritty of the pinouts and the IDE chips of the MB's and where all the lines go to of the edge connector

BakMonolith is designed for Stratos PowerMonster and able to convert 2.5 inc. SCSI interface to 25pin SCSI connecter directly. This card has the function of BUS Power mode so that it does not need external power supply

LOL I have to climb over a stack of 630s to get to my 5260 so I think I'm good for now thanksi should send you a board, don't you have a 5200 in need of a up er down grade?
That's not what I said.ok cool.. if his ide fails then i guess ill just go buy a quadra 650 or 700, like bunsen said prob my best bet.
That's not what I said.
^^^^Personally I think the Quadra 650 and 800 (which are the same logic board as each other in different cases) are slightly preferable - a tad faster and more expandable.
