What a difference twelve hours in vinegar makes. Better, still not great...

Are you sure it was safe to use vinegar on it for so long? It is acidic and would gladly eat away at that motherboard.

@Powerbase I have done this before to no ill effect so I am fairly confident that it will be fine.

Yikes, good luck!
7200s case arrived today. Its... a little beat up but serviceable. Never had an Outrigger case before. One of Apples more intelligently designed cases, but still brittle plastic though.

Original owner / still have my IIe and IIgs. IIe has been in daily use / on the desk since 1989.
New to the Macintosh scene, with a Mac SE/30.

QQ: Why do you still use the IIe over the IIgs? Any benefits that the IIe has over the IIgs?

I think its a familiarity /personal preference thing, nothing scientific. I just always liked the form factor of the IIe better. I like the keyboard better, and I never really used or needed the GS-OS interface much. I Found myself staying with PFS write and the older version(s) of Apple Works. All my favorite games are IIe games, and I ran into a few minor compatibility issues with the IIgs here and there.

With all that being said, I have the IIe and IIgs side by side on the desk, and use a composite to HDMI and SCART to HDMI to feed video output to a modern LCD. In that use case, I love how the IIgs can 'fake' the green phosphor screen color, and it is certainly faster for accessing BBSes, using 68k.news, and the like.
Finally got the adapters to use my SATA-only ATX powersupply but still waiting on the 20-pin adapter.
Hey Bolle, another interested Carrera040 guy here. Where do we purchase or how can we acquire this set up? ActionRetro has me really interested in the project!

I'm surprised no one's actually ripped the old mac startup chimes from the original ROM files...
This is the first time since using CRTs (75Hz) that I've ran a display at something other than 60Hz. 165Hz is so nice on my hackintosh.
