Will an early 2005 (DP) G5 LCS fit in a Quad?

Just bought my second G5 Quad, a single pump Delphi one. Immaculate, not a speck of corrosion, plugged it in at the seller's house and it chimed, which was good enough for me, and I took it. Got it home and was rather unsurprised to find that it no longer posted, and was throwing CPU overtemp LEDs. The exact same thing happened when I bought my first quad - let the troubleshooting begin.

On my first quad (a dual pump delphi), the LCS rebuild was a 3-month futile project in which hundreds of dollars were spent in parts, it never worked, and every single variable was ruled out, other than the radiator just being completely fucked inside. In the end, I converted it to air cooled. It works fine now, but sounds like a jet engine, and runs just hot enough at idle for me to feel uneasy about ever using it for real work (I'd like to use it as a Pro Tools machine)

After the first LCS rebuild, the idea of a second one kinda makes me want to puke. SO, I've been looking online to see if anyone sells refurbed G5 LCS's, so I can just drop one in. Turns out someone does, but they're for a 2.7ghz dual processor.
Does anyone know if the early 2005 Panasonics will work in a late 05? Are the standoff patterns, connectors, pinouts etc different? Anyone ever tried this?

Yes - the three LCS models for 2005 G5 (2.7 and 2.5 Quad) line up and work. Don’t know if the Panasonic pump unit is any better though. Exactly like you hurt with LCS overhaul, converted to air it’s OK, but on the look out for a local replacement one day.
