What color monitor for //c ?

So, the monochrome monitor which came with the //c blew it's rifa(s), and as they do, also my nostrils :) .

Didn't give a blink though, still working, but before using it again I'll replace the rifa's, and possibly other capacitors as well, will asses what needs to be done after opening it up.

I know the original color monitor (A2M4043) also used the composite output, but isn't there any way to connect a more modern monitor to it, like the M1212?

I know the "videoport" on the backside is not exactly a videoport, but more of a "video expansion port", so can't drive a monitor directly...

Curious if there ever was some sort of adapter to allow using a normal monitor...

Anyways, whipped out my trusty Sony TV and use that till the monitor is repaired.

Apart from that, just received the serial cable and floppy with ADTpro, so now I also know the internal floppy works!

Unfortunsately not really a fan of vintage machines driving modern monitors!
I totally get that. I'm not familiar with any other adapter solution except for the VGA adapter A2Heaven used to make... I'm not sure when or if they'll be shipping that again, but it looks like it works really well; http://www.a2heaven.com/webshop/index.php?rt=product/product&path=73&product_id=135

I suppose you could try a cheap composite-to-VGA adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pomya-Adapter-Composite-Set-Top-Converter/dp/B07SLRTGWS/

The video port (which for some reason Apple called the RGB port, but it definitely is not that) can indeed drive a monitor as well as sound - pin 12 carries the composite signal, pin 5 carries sound - but the video signal is simply the composite signal without an inductor and bypass cap, so it apparently can be presented on some monitors as a 'sharper' image than what can you get off the composite connector. Personally, I haven't noticed any difference at all, but others have, and you can even buy an adapter on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/193393714278), or build your own.

Ultimately - the only video signal that the IIc produces is composite, there is no RGB, so you're stuck with emulation / conversion... or finding a really good composite monitor.

RGB2HDMI can also drive a VGA monitor

This is a 640x480 VGA monitor driven by RGB2HDMI directly from the digital signals from the video port.

Yea it's a point of sales 10" monitor on the IIc stand. With the rgb2hdmi you can set custom monitor timings so I also put it going with the Apple trinitron M1212

This is my setup. A AV2HDMI Up scaler 1080p. Few euros/dollars AliExpress. Composite in. HDMI out. Only yellow cable is used. Red and white are not used, but this is the only cable I have.

The very smal LCD panel I have is for HDMI and VGA. Also cheap. But any monitor with HDMI in will work.

Here's what I'm using to get HDMI output from the //c+. First I've got an Apple //c cable adapter that is plugged into the Video Expansion port on the back of the //c+. With this cable both the video and sound are sent to the LCD monitor. Then that feeds into the AV2HDMI converter that I got from eBay for $25 plus shipping and tax. Finally that is plugged into a ReActive Micro 12" LCD display that I also have an Atari 800xl plugged into via the A/V input. What I have plugged into the Disk port, next to the Video Expansion port, is the FujiApple. The menu for it is displayed on the monitor.

Hey @RetroTheryboy - could you share any model details of that awesome NCR point-of-sale monitor you rigged up for use with your Apple IIc? It's so cool and such a nice pairing, I'd love to start hunting for one of my own...
