Over the weekend I picked up a few things.

1 - IIfx

I snatched this up for $30 then came home to realize it has no HD :-(

The RAM banks are full but i haven't powered it on to see how much it has. Whoever thought to use 64pin simms is an idiot... I hope this thing is maxed.

The case is a little yellowed but it's free of any scuffs or marks.

1 - LW 16/600

I needed a board from one of these for my LW pro, but I got a complete working unit for $20. Not too shabby. Hooray for network printing!

Good price on a good acquisition. A missing drive is much more easily overcome than is missing RAM in a IIfx, so take comfort. Even 8 x 1MB is a good start, and if you have more, a better start. There's always booting from an FDD for your preliminary checks. Do you but enjoy!

Thanks equill!

I powered on the IIfx to the death chines.

I removed a bank of RAM and it chimes normally but I get no video :(

Looks like I need to investigate further...

At least the LW works without a hitch!

Batteries ok on the IIfx?

As far as no video use a known good video card, you might have some kind of old fixed frequency card installed that doesn't like your monitor.

Yeah I put 2 new PRAM batteries in it. I'll have to dig up a different video card to test. I don't have any nubus cards.

The card in it is a Macintosh II video card.

If you're interested I have one of the original "Toby" nubus video cards here (640 X 480 only) and 4 1MB IIfx simms tested good a few months ago. The video card is kind of cosmetically ugly but works ok. Could have the whole lot pretty cheap.
