The suction cup pins broke

I detached/pulled off the suction cup on the flyback transformer from the CRT tube on my Macintosh Plus to do some work on the motherboard. As I did that the pins inside the suction cup that connect it to the outer parts of the tube broke off when I pulled it out.

I've marked the pins with an orange circle in this example picture:

I therefore used some wire/string and shaped it as the pins and screwed it on the cup and attached it back on. I briefly tested the machine and it worked, but is there any danger to this? Do these pins have high voltage/current going through them resulting in this fix to be dangerous if the connection is bad?

Will any current go to the "inner part" of the tube because they will bend outwards/the wire are too long or something? I'm not sure what this part do exactly.

I also guess the wire won't press as firmly against the tube as the original pins in the suction cup would do.

I just want to know what you guys think about my fix and if its good enough or maybe dangerous. I know there are some high voltage going through these parts so I want to be sure. :beige:

I also used some black electrical tape to fasten the suction cup back on the tube after reattaching it ...

When I removed mine, I used a pair of small needle nose pliers to flex the pins inward before pulling. I'm guessing you skipped that part :p

Just about any stiff wire in a hook shape that doesn't let the anode cable move about will work. It is a few thousand volts but the current is really low. I've had to work with a decent number of old TV sets where you didn't even have the suction cup. The insulated wire just terminated with a bare metal clip. You learned quickly to not grip that before discharging it.

Yeah, I should have flexed the pins, but it sounds like the fix is ok after all. Thanks, guys!   :beige:
