stuff to get my SE going

So, thankfully, I repaired my SE and got 6.0.8 installed, now I need some software.

The two things that come to mind are appleshare client to link it with my 700 to move files easily, and some sort of clock screensaver to make it useful when I'm not using it.

suggestions? links?

I haven't used system 6 for about five years so I'm really in the dark here.

errr... bit of a problem here...

so I got appleshare workstation 3.5 from apple (finally found it)

but when I connect to my quadra, it says that the disks (the HDD is in multiple partitions) need minor repairs, when I hit OK it says it can't make the desktop file, when I hit cancel it just cycles the window. Any ideas?

You may need to suppress system 7's urge to rebuild a system 6 desktop (if that's what's happening; couldn't tell for sure from your description, so sorry if I have it backwards). The easiest way to accomplish this is to install DesktopMgr in the system 6 system folder (and ONLY in that folder; do NOT install in the system 7 system folder).

You can get the extension here (assuming that the link still works): http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/download/desktopmgr201.sit.hqx

No, I think you've got it kinda backwards, thanks to my fantastic description tactics. I'll try and lay it out better:

SE is the client, it has system 6.0.8 and appleshare workstation (client) 3.5. Plugged into the printer serial port is a mac serial cable running to my quadra 700's printer serial port.

The 700 is running 7.6.1 and has three 1.5GB HDD partitions, appletalk is set to use the printer port and file sharing is enabled.

On the SE, if I go to the chooser and click apple share it lists the quadra no problem and then lists all the connected drives. If I try and connect to any one of them (including mounted CD-ROMs) the SE displays a message saying that the disk needs minor repairs, press ok to do them or cancel to cancel. When I hit ok it gives an error that it isn't possible, and when I hit cancel it just loops the window, and I have to press the reset button.

Ideas?
