Yes, at least according to Wikipedia this particular model should not have a 128GB limit. The logic board has two IDE channels, so that would be 4 drives. If you got a later version then it won't have the 128GB limit.
LOL, you are living the dream! I'll settle for a single drive that works.I have 17 drives in one of mine with a RAID card
The System Profiler said 64MB GeForce 4 MX, although I didn't notice any GeForce or nVidia branding on the card itself.Nice computer. What video card is installed?
Yep, should allow use of an A1038 20" Apple Cinema Display, if desired. The Apple built graphics cards for that machine was a 32 MB ATI Radeon 7500, 64 MB NVIDIA GeForce4 MX, or 128 MB GeForce4 Ti. The GeForce4 MX was a good card - much better than the 16 MB ATI Rage Pro shipped in the prior generation G4 Digital Audio.
IE 5.5 loads Garden pages and downloads from it OK.What's a good way to get new software from the Garden onto a a Mac like this one? Normally I'd use Floppy Emu, but there's no floppy. Will a 20-year-old version of Netscape Navigator be able to surf the web well enough? I haven't tried it yet. Or maybe use an HFS+ formatted USB thumb drive and sneaker-net files via my MacBook Air?
This may be a dumb question, but connect how? Can I just use Ventura 13.4's Finder->Go->Computer menu option to connect to the G4 running OS X 10.4? Or do I need to set up an FTP server?Your modern Mac should be able to connect to the QuickSilver without issue over Ethernet with OS X 10.4.
That’s all. As long as sharing is set up and on on the QuickSilver you should be good. If it doesn’t show up automatically, use the IP manually, and you can mount your Quicksilvers HD right on the desktop of your modern Mac.This may be a dumb question, but connect how? I am able to download from Macintosh Garden in OS 8.6 -9.1 using Netscape. I think I just have to use FrogFind to get there. I think this link will work on OS 8/9:To download directly from the garden, you can do it in OS X
Good to know. If I ever get the Linksys Wireless-G adapter I have installed in said G4 working under 9.2.2, I'll try it sometime.I am able to download from Macintosh Garden in OS 8.6 -9.1 using Netscape. I think I just have to use FrogFind to get there. I think this link will work on OS 8/9:
Though doesn't seem to work on a modern PC
FrogFind is great for getting a bunch of sites working, but not everywhere. This forum for example does not seem to work with it
It depends if you want accelerated OS9 graphics. If you do, the Geforce 4 Ti 4600 is the fastest I believe? But they're expensive. Very expensive. @macuserman ?What's a good graphics card with digital video output for this Quicksilver? I think it's too old for any HDMI options, but there must be options with DVI? The video card that's installed now only has VGA and the Apple ADC connector. I think perhaps ADC is digital video, but doesn't help me much when using a modern monitor. Was ADC-to-DVI the adapter that was in the news recently because it was selling for hundreds of dollars?
