I'm trying to slim down but I guess two steps forward one step back.

I found a guy selling a bunch of stuff locally.

He had the entire guts of a Plus and this HD20SC, two external floppies, an ImageWriter II, and associated peripherals & manuals.

Although very little software.

He told me the hard drive in the HD20SC was "gone". He said it was "gone" years ago.

The way he was talking I took it to mean he'd removed the hard drive.

But when I got it home it seemed kind of heavy.

Hmm, looks like a HD to me!

It spins up but I haven't tried to access it yet.

The guy said that back in the 90's his dog knocked the computer and HD off the desk so I doubt the HD still works.

What's funny is the guy told me he pulled the ram out of the Plus board because he thought the chips might have some of his old data on them...

I didn't bother to correct him. That's the first time I've heard that one.

I took a closer look at the stuff I got the other day.

I got a decent Plus analog board, mobo, and CRT etc.

I don't know why the guy took it apart. Maybe he made a fish tank.

He did carefully pack it all and everything looks ok. He even put all the screws in a bag.

Maybe I should look for a Plus case and rebuild it. :beige:

I was looking through the other stuff and all the original manuals & docs for the Plus are there but strangely there's a manual for a HD20, not the HD20SC.

Kinda weird since all the others docs and accessories are correct for the hardware.  I would like to have have gotten the HD20SC manual.

I have one if you want it. There's a chunk missing from the front bezel (top right corner), but it's otherwise sound, and it would let you assemble what you have. You might have to bring your own chassis, though; mine has some fairly bad rust, if I remember correctly.

I don't have an HD20SC manual, but I do have a manual-less HD20 :)

A trade, maybe --> the HD 20 manual for the Plus case.

PM if interested.
