Quadra 700 PSU Issue

I am sending my Q700 PSU off to get recapped. The computer turns on just fine, bongs, green lights, etc. Runs quiet, very quiet fan. But it wont shut off! You press the power button, and it turns right back on. If you unplug it and plug it back in, it does not start automatically, you must hit the power key (Which is correct).

I know these power supplies are pretty much junk anyways, in regards to caps. I think this is a simple cap issue. Is there anything else the recapper should look for?

This is the more uncommon GE power supply, not Astec.

There are various models, as you've said you have a GE and I've never had a Mac with one of those, not sure what it looks like inside, it could be very similar to the Astec.

A lot of them have a dodgy 5v trickle. They were known for it back in the day, there was a mod a service centre would do to your PSU and I think later ones were slightly modified to fix the problem as far as I know.

After recap, soft power for powering on should work almost instantly from cold and power off too. If either of those is still severely delayed or won't work at all, then the recap alone hasn't fixed it and whoever you are sending it to for repair will have to do more investigation.

Incase anyone else encounters this issue where the Quadra stays off when first plugged in but when shutting it off it restarts, a recap fixed it.
