Hi,

My PB160 boots up with a white screen. I do no see "Happy Face" or "Sad Face." Hard drive sounds like it's spinning. I connected it to an external monitor, same white screen.

I read in some threads this may be a cap issue. However it there is no video out to LCD nor to external monitor, can I assume the problem lies elsewhere? Perhaps the ROM is bad? I am not very hardware savvy so please help!

Pull it apart, pull the connectors, clean with contact cleaning spray, and reseat, same goes with the CPU daughter card.

Inverter caps and screen caps if that doesn't do the trick.

My 160 was the same. Caps got me close but looks like the goo I didn't get it all off as half the screen does not come on (every other pixel)

or a via is broken and is killing a connection to one of the panel drive buffer ICs. (more likely scenario).
